A Day at the Beach

Last Saturday, I went to the beach with my friends. The sandy shore was warm under our feet and the sea stretched out as far as we could see. The waves rolled in gently, making a soothing sound. We spread out our towels and laid down to soak up the sun for a while. Then, we couldn't wait to run into the water, playing and splashing around. Some of us even tried to ride the small waves on our bodyboards. After having fun in the water, we built sandcastles on the beach, decorating them with seashells we found. When the day came to an end, we watched the beautiful sunset over the ocean, feeling so relaxed. It was truly a perfect day by the seaside.

A Day of Volunteering at an Animal Shelter

Last Saturday, I dedicated my day to volunteering at a local animal shelter. As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted by a symphony of barks and meows, along with the eager eyes of countless furry friends. My first task was to clean the animal enclosures. I swept up debris, replaced soiled bedding, and made sure each area was spotless. It was physically demanding work, but the thought of providing a clean and comfortable space for the animals motivated me. After that, I helped with feeding time. I carefully measured out food portions for each dog and cat, watching them gobble it up with enthusiasm. One of the most rewarding parts of the day was spending time socializing with the animals. The fennec fox, with its oversized ears and sandy coat, is a master of desert survival. Its ears, which can reach 15 cm in length, dissipate heat and detect prey underground. The fox’s thick fur insulates it from scorching days and freezing nights, while its paws are padded to walk on hot sand. Fennec foxes rarely drink water, obtaining moisture from insects and desert plants. Yet, habitat destruction and illegal pet trade threaten their populations. Observing a fennec fox darting through the dunes, I admired its agility and the precision of its desert adaptations.
